Race and the FBI’s Most Wanted Murderers
Chris Roberts, American Renaissance, November 23, 2020
The FBI published its first “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list in 1950. For 70 years, it has served “to publicize particularly dangerous fugitives who might not otherwise merit nationwide attention.” The FBI also has a current list of the 70 “most wanted” murderers. Here it is by race:
| Race | Number on Most Wanted Murderers List | Share of the List | Share of America’s Population | Times More Likely Than a White to be on This List. |
| Hispanics | 49 | 70.0% | 18.5% | 22.7 |
| Blacks | 9 | 12.9% | 13.4% | 5.8 |
| Whites | 7 | 10.0% | 60.1% | N/A |
| Asians | 5 | 7.1% | 5.9% | 7.2 |
We’re not sure why Hispanics dominate this list — why the odds of a Hispanic getting on it are 23 times greater than for a white. Maybe it’s because murder is usually prosecuted as a state crime, and this is a federal list, but that’s not a convincing explanation. If any readers have ideas, please share them with us in the comments.
Here are the mugshots, sorted by race.
