She Hissed at Me Like a Snake

Anonymous American, American Renaissance, July 10, 2022

This story is one of hundreds Colin Flaherty planned to publish in a book before his death. American Renaissance will post one a week.

The black man who attacked me with a knife in my own home was fresh out of nine years in prison for rape and assault. He viciously attacked a woman in El Centro only three weeks after his release, and was out on bail when he attacked me in Brawley. He scared his El Centro victim so badly that after he sent her a letter from his jail cell, she refused to testify. Instead, she left town with no forwarding address.

Just before the trial, in the waiting room outside the court itself, the District Attorney walked up to me and said there was going to be a guilty plea in exchange for a reduced sentence. I started screaming in outrage, and my yells were so loud that my attacker’s lawyer considered moving to postpone the trial for fear that the judge had heard me from the other room and become “prejudiced.” In the end, my assailant got just seven years, and was back on the street in less than four.

Later on, I ran into his wife at the Safeway and she hissed at me like a snake. I hissed right back.

I pray that these scumbags eventually get the justice they deserve, but have little faith they will — at least in this life.
